however, when one society believes an event to be real while another society believes it to be a myth. Seemingly impossible events are deemed divine intervention when they are interpreted as Mankind's attempts to influence fate. Attempts to control fate can have enormous implications when technological advancements narrow the gaps between reality and perception. As mythological events become more tangible, new questions arise regarding the nature of reality.
Reality is dictated by universal laws of nature. Events are considered real when they demonstrate logical causes and effects. Occasionally, though, new discoveries change our understanding of these laws and alter our perception of reality. Myths often develop when perceived events have no logical causes and effects. In addition, every culture has adopted its own version of a universal mythology in which ordinary people achieve impossible goals while enduring fantastic situations. Philosophical problems arise,

People seeking to alter fate often cite urban legends and conspiracy theories to change perceptions of reality. Urban legends are contemporary myths loosely based on true events. Although such folklore is easily adapted to cause fear, most are hoaxes. Conspiracy theories are urban legends contending that significant historical events have been (or are being) covertly manipulated. Evidence supporting conspiracy theories is vague and largely circumstantial, however. Popular conspiracy theories include allegations of:
and evidence of ancient civilizations, the Egyptian Pyramids, the Crucifixion, Bible translations, the Holy Grail, advanced
technology, medical cures, government surveillance, the Cold War, secret military installations, UFO
activity and extraterrestrials, the Bermuda Triangle, mysterious creatures, and the existence of an alleged giant face

on the surface of Mars.
- Brainwashing, mind control via water fluoridation, and genetically engineered food and drug supplies.
- Government cover-ups and denials of events including 9/11, NASA disasters, Pearl Harbor, the Roswell Incident, and the "Philadelphia Experiment".
- Manipulated commercial failures including the stock market crash of 1929 and the collapse of the Enron corporation.
- Mysterious disappearances, deaths, murders, and assassinations including those of Presidents Lincoln & Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Princess Diana, Marilyn Monroe, John Lennon, Jim Morrison, Elvis Presley, Howard Hughes, Jimmy Hoffa, Amelia Earhart, and the Black Dalia.
- Political scandals including Watergate and the Clinton Presidency.
- Population control through racial selection and medical epidemics (including AIDS and the West Nile Virus).
- The implementation of a New World Order (a one-world government) by organizations such as the Mafia and the Illuminati. Members of these secret socities supposedly include prominent world leaders who use terrorism, revolution, imperialism, Zionism, religion, and environmental manipulation (including global warming) to create threats of a worldwide Apocalypse.

Despite constant technological advancements, many people ascribe to superstitions and divination in attempts to influence their own fate and the fate of others. Superstitions are spiritual behaviors (or the observances of spiritual warnings) which are practiced to influence future events. Positive (good luck) superstitions include possessing a rabbit's foot, tossing salt over one's shoulder, and wearing a certain item of clothing or jewelry. Negative (bad luck) superstitions include walking under an open ladder, crossing the path of a black cat, breaking a mirror, and wearing silver & gold together.
Information regarding luck is available in the Great Enigmas section of this website. Divination utilizes ancient rituals and sorcery to predict the future, see past events, and affect every aspect of spirituality including good fortune and misfortune. Ancient rituals have ranged from lighting candles to dowsing to human sacrifice. Information regarding divination is available in the Great Enigmas section of this website. Sorcery, also known as witchcraft or black magic, utilizes prayers, spells, and curses in attempts to influence future events. Information regarding sorcery is available in the Great Enigmas section of this website.
A popular belief is that our reality is one of many realities and that our universe is one of many universes. Another belief is that each universe has multiple planes of existence and that anybody can perceive these planes if they are spiritual enough. Since many aspects of our universe are illogical, it is quite possible that many of Mankind's greatest enigmas are direct links between our universe and alternate realities. Information regarding possible linkage between our known universe and alternate realities is available in the Great Enigmas section of this website.
Technological advancements can legitimize mythology by making once impossible events possible. In an effort to legitimize immortal legends, many people seek relics from the past. Relics (ancient artifacts) are often considered to be direct links between reality and spirituality. As a result, they are revered by true believers and scrutinized by scientists.
IN SUMMARY:
Anomalies (enigmas) are bridges between reality and impossibility. They offer clues to the greatest quandaries (puzzles) of the Universe and serve as catalysts for Mankind's understanding of his place within it.
Was the US Government a willing participant in the 9/11 conspiracy? Are jet planes emitting lethal chemtrails instead of harmless contrails? These questions exemplify two of Humankind's newest and most prolific enigmas.
Anomalies & Quandaries... Great Enigmas of Humankind explores our mysterious world and presents a wide variety of unexplained phenomena, historical oddities, strange discoveries, and bizarre practices.
Anomalies occur every day and their apparent causes are not accepted by many mainstream scientists. As a result, they are often interpreted as omens and sources of enlightenment.
